U.S. Patent Issued for DNA Test Designed to Improve Colorectal Cancer Screening

A U.S. patent has been issued for a novel way of screening DNA for genetic alternations, which Exact Sciences Corp. says will enhance the performance of its test designed to detect colorectal cancer from stoool samples.

The test, called oligonucleuotide tiling, is able to detect mutations in DNA extracted from samples of colorectal cancer tissue. The company plans to use the test to enhance the performance of its system to detect colorectal cancer.
