Center for Colon Cancer Research to Be Established in South Carolina


The National Institutes of Health was awarded an $11 million grant to the University of South Carolina to establish a Center for Colon Cancer Research.

The center will have a team of 17 researchers from various fields, including biology, pharmacy, medicine, public health, pathology and chemistry and will be an NIH-designated Center of Biomedical Research Excellence..

Four junior faculty members will receive funding for their studies on the molecular, biochemical, genetic and lifestyle factors that affect colorectal cancer and its treatment.
