Expenditures on Colorectal Cancer Drugs Expected to Triple by 2010

A study evaluating emerging trends in treatment of colorectal cancer forecasts substantial growth in the colorectal cancer drug market for the balance of the decade.

The new Decision Resources study estimates that sales of colorectal cancer drug therapies in the U.S. and Europe will increase from $630 million in 2000 to $1.7 billion in 2010. This growth rate mirrors the steady increase in the incidence of colorectal cancer in these countries and the likelihood that newer, more expensive drugs will be used to treat the disease.
